IWRM International - Master of Science with focus on Middle East and Northern Africa Region


The application deadline is determined by your situation and requirements:

  • Applicants with German nationality or a German Bachelor Degree
    • Application Period: between 01.05 and 10.06 each year
      for intake in September of the same year
  • Other applicants (non-German nationality, non-German Bachelor Degree)
    • Application Period: between 01.02 and 31.03 each year
      for intake in September of the same year
  • Application for a DAAD scholarship (only DAC-List countries)
    • Deadline: 31.01. each year for intake in the winter semester of the same year

2. curriculum vitae in reverse chronological order without any unexplained gaps (please use the europass template ( including exact information about your studies and practical experience

3. document proving the higher education entrance qualification

5. the academic record of university study

7. a letter of motivation explaining why you would like to study the master’s program (max. 500 words), explaining:
Personal Understanding of Integrated Water Resources Management (One Sentence)

  • Motivation to apply for the joint exchange program in Germany and in Jordan (One Paragraph)
  • Motivation to apply in relation to your previous experiences/education (One Paragraph)
  • Motivation to apply in relation to your future aspirations/preferred occupation in line with the specialization the IWRM program offers (One Paragraph)
  • Name three main benefits you expect to gain from the program (List)
  • Name three main contributions you could make to the program (List)
  • Five arguments of personal characteristics. Why you should be selected according to your view (List)

8. a research idea related to the master’s program (2 pages)

  • The subject and content of the research idea should be in line with the course content of the master’s program
  • The focus of the research idea should be on the MENA region
  • The subject must be of importance regarding the current scientific discussion
  • It should be written scientifically correct (e.g. structure, citation, data quality, sources, consistency)

Application Deadline

DAAD Scholarships: Applicants from DAC-list countries and Germany can apply for the Master program until January 31st each year

Foreign applicants: until March 31st each year

German applicants: until June 10th each year
