DAAD EPOS Scholarship
The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers highly qualified applicants a limited number of scholarships. The current call for applications and necessary application documents for the scholarship for an EPOS study program can be found on the DAAD’s website.
Application period: 1 August to 30 September at the latest (date of receipt!) of the year preceding the year of enrollment.
Who can apply?
Graduates with at least two years of relevant professional experience
Duration of funding
24 months
Admission Requirements
- Candidates fulfill the necessary academic requirements and can be expected to successfully complete a study program in Germany (above-average result for the first academic exam – top performance, language skills)
- Candidates have a Bachelor’s degree (usually a four-year course) in an appropriate subject
- Candidates have at least two years of relevant professional experience
- Candidates can prove their motivation is development-related and be expected to take on social responsibility and initiate and support processes of change in their personal and professional environment after their training/scholarship
How to apply
Please check that your application documents are complete (including all required stamps and signatures) and that all scans are of a good readability before sending them out.
Application is to be done in 2 steps:
- Register online
AND - Send all required documents in this exact order (see pdf) as one single pdf file, not exceeding 20 MB in size, to application-daad@th-koeln.de
The pdf file must be named according to the following scheme:
Program Name_Nationality ISO_Last_Name_First Name.pdf,

In addition to the documents required by DAAD, you must hand in the following documents:

- copy of school leaving certificate and, if applicable, university entrance exam
- a letter of motivation for ITT explaining:
- Personal understanding of Natural Resources Management and Development (one Sentence)
- Motivation to apply in relation to your previous experiences/education (one Paragraph)
- Motivation to apply in relation to your future aspirations / preferred occupation in line with the specialization the NRM program offers (one paragraph)
- Name three main benefits you expect to gain from the program (list)
- Name three main contributions you could make to the program (list)
- Five arguments of personal characteristics. Why you should be selected according to your view (List)

- a research idea related to the master’s program (2 pages)
- The subject and content of the research idea should be in line with the course content of the master’s program Natural Resources Management and Development
- The subject must be of importance in the current scientific discussion
- It should be written scientifically correct (e.g. structure, citation, data quality, sources, consistency)
Documents not complying with the formal requirements, incomplete documents and late applications will not be considered! Only applications sent to application-daad@th-koeln.de will be processed.
