DAAD Scholarship “Special Initiative on Training and Job Creation”

Application Deadline: March 31, 2021 for Intake Winter Term 2021/22 (September 2021)

The goal of the initiative over the next few years is to create 100,000 jobs and 30,000 training places in Africa, to improve local working conditions, and to promote sustainable economic growth.
The initiative is currently being implemented in Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia.

The BMZ has mandated the following organizations to implement the Special Initiative on Training and Job Creation: the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the KfW Development Bank, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) and the development agencies Foundation for Economic Development and Vocational Training (SEQUA) and Engagement Global – Service for Development Initiatives.

Within this special initiative, DAAD offers scholarships for selected master´s courses within the program scheme “Development Related Postgraduate Courses” (PDF: DAAD Call 2021 SI Training and Job Creation).

Who can apply?
Graduates with at least two years’ professional experience from Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal and Tunisia.

Duration of funding
24 months (master study), possible additional 6 months scholarship for a practical phase after graduation

    Please indicate in your application that you are applying for the Program Special Initiative on Training and Job Creation!
  • professional letter/s of recommendation from your employer; the letter must have a signature and office stamp and must be of recent date (not in a sealed envelope)
  • confirmation of employment from the employer in your home country and, if possible, a guarantee of re-employment upon your return home
  • IMPORTANT: When applying for more than one postgraduate course (maximum 2 courses), you have to submit an additional motivation letter explaining why you are applying for these specific courses and why you chose that priority.

 

DAAD EPOS Scholarship

Foreign applicants from DAC-list countries may apply for one of the restricted number of scholarships of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and through the program “Development-Related Postgraduate Courses”.

With its development-oriented postgraduate study programmes, the DAAD promotes the training of specialists from development and newly industrialised countries. Well-trained local experts, who are networked with international partners, play an important part in the sustainable development of their countries. They are the best guarantee for a better future with less poverty, more education and health for all. The scholarships offer foreign graduates from development and newly industrialised countries from all disciplines and with at least two years’ professional experience the chance to take a postgraduate or Master’s degree.

Application deadline: September 30th of the year preceding the year of enrollment!

Duration of funding
24 months

Admission Requirements

  • Candidates fulfil the necessary academic requirements and can be expected to successfully complete a study programme in Germany (above-average result for first academic exam – top performance, language skills)
  • Candidates have a Bachelor degree (usually a four-year course) in an appropriate subject
  • Candidates have at least two years’ professional experience
  • Candidates can prove their motivation is development-related and be expected to take on social responsibility and initiate and support processes of change in their personal and professional environment after their training/scholarship
